A TEAM of seven Bluefins Masters travelled through to Westhill last weekend to compete in the Silver City Blues swimming meet.
Karen McBeath, Karen Howells, Chris Whitson, Hannah Boyd, Nichola Maasdrop, Henry Archibald and Jane Parkinson all raced with many medal winning performances. Masters swimming involves all ages of swimmers from 18 upwards and at this meet the youngest was 18 while the oldest was an 84 year old lady. Forres Bluefin Chris Whitson swam a gold medal winning race for his 100m freestyle in a time of 56.99 in the mens 18-24 age group while Henry Archibald was placed second for his 200m freestyle. Karen Howells, who trains in Loughborough, swam to silver place in her age group for 100m breaststroke while Hannah Boyd placed first in the 18-24 age group for 50m breaststroke.
The Bluefins were off competing again this weekend and this time, the Elgin Spring Meet held over two days at Buckie was the venue. Again many excellent performances from nearly all of the swimmers and three girls: Kate Hannen, Olivia Wright and Fay Prosser were certainly pleased with their results. Kate took eleven seconds off her 200 freestyle and seven off 200 breaststroke, Olivia sliced 22 seconds off her previous 200 backstroke time and nearly 30 seconds off the 200 freestyle.
Fay also tooks huge chunks off her previous times for the 200 Breaststroke, 200 Butterfly and the 400 Individual Medley.
