Buckie Thistle have signed goalkeeper Stuart Knight from Forres Mechanics on a two-year deal.

Knight (35) joined Forres in 2007 and played more than 500 games for the Mosset Park club.

He will replace Jags' keeper from last season, Bal Demus who has returned to his parent club Cove Rangers.

Buckie manager Graeme Stewart said: "Stuart is a well established goalkeeper with plenty experience in the Highland League.

"The position of a goalkeeper is always a hard one to fill so we are delighted that Stuart has agreed to come to Buckie.

"Stuart already has a Highland League winner's medal and will go some way to strengthening our options alongside talented Lee Herbert."

Forres manager Steven MacDonald tried to sign Knight on a new contract but said when Buckie's interest came about, the player wanted to move.

"He's been a fantastic servant for Forres over the years so it was a big blow losing someone of Stuart's experience and how popular he is around the club," he said.

"He was happy to sign for Forres again until he heard about Buckie's interest.

"He is obviously looking to try and push on and win a league at his stage of his career so we couldn't stand in his way,"

Cans have brought in another keeper Aidan MacDonald (25) from local junior side Burghead Thistle.

With another Cans' custodian Robbie Donaldson potentially having a serious knee injury, Mechanics may look to sign a second gpoalie over the summer.

They have also brought in left back Calum Howarth from Nairn County.
