About two miles of new sewer piping will be laid from the village to the junction at the B9089 near the Roseisle Maltings.

The £1.86million Scottish Water scheme is scheduled to start on Monday, October 4.

Project manager Sam Neill said the work was aimed at preventing sewer flooding issues in the village due to burst pipes.

He added: "We will be carrying out the work in 120metre to 150metre sections as part of a rolling programme which will move along the length of the route over the coming months.

"To enable the work to be carried out safely, the road will need to be closed and signposted diversions will be in place.

"We would like to apologise to local residents and road users for any inconvenience caused by this essential work and thank them in advance for their patience and understanding while it is completed.

"The community’s water supply and drainage services will not be affected by the work."
