A SPECIALIST weed-cutting machine is in operation to clean up a local pond.

An amphibious cutting machine is being used at Sanquhar Pond, in Forres, to keep aquatic plants under control.

The work will cut back reeds, rushes and horsetail weeds to improve the surrounding environment and help aquatic life to thrive.

Moray Council has been working with a community group on the maintenance work.

The weeds control work is part of a five-year management plan agreed by councillors earlier this year, funded by the AS Murdoch Fishing Trust Fund, allocated for the upkeep of Sanquhar Pond.
