Inspired by the silent protest taking place in Edinburgh to mark International Women's Day, local women plan to hold a silent vigil in Forres on Tuesday March 8 in solidarity.

Jane Gambrill said: "Discovering that women who are responsible for gathering fuel, water and food – the basics for life – and suffer the most when shortages are made worse by climate change was a clarion call for me, when one remembers that these are the countries who have played only a minor role in the creation of this climate crisis.

"On International Women's Day come and join us at the Tollbooth any time between 12.30-1.30. We will be focussing not only on women who are being affected by the climate crisis but also in all war-torn countries across the world, and giving thanks that we are safe in our beds and homes.”
