NATURE has generated funding for energetic playing sessions in a local village.

Rafford Village Hall has been awarded £4000 by the Berry Burn wind farm Community Fund to run Rafford Parent, Baby and Toddler Group.

Hall secretary Anne Parkinson confirmed the sessions run every Tuesday morning from 9.30-11am during term time.

She said: "This much needed funding will cover our hall rental and heating costs, as well as provide a healthy snack at each session.

"It will help secure the future of our play sessions for the next two to three years and excite the next generation of messy painters!"

Since the group was established a few years ago, new families have been introduced to the warmth and friendship of the Rafford community.

The sessions offer a range of play opportunities via tents and tunnels, carpet games, Playdough, messy play, kitchen craft, and a fleet of scuttle bugs and trikes.

A cosy corner (close to the refreshment table) is reputedly very popular with mums and babies. Musical crocodiles and cuddly orangutans share a bright, carpeted floor area where each session finishes with an action packed sing-song.

In recent months, the group has been supported with donations of craft items such as paint, card, glue and glitter from Moray Waste Busters, as well as additional toys and trikes.

Ms Parkinson said: "Bringing families together and enriching community life, the toddler group shows that, with imagination, inspiration and fun, we can all be happier and more fulfilled.

"It's gratifying to know that a new generation is being valued, welcomed and supported here. We are so excited about the future for families here in our area!"

Session details are posted on the Rafford Parent, Baby & Toddler facebook page. New families, childminders and carers are welcome.
