Jann Gray took this photo of the Thomas Telford bridge in Craigellachie.
As the plaque records, the iron bridge was completed in 1814.
Its single span of 150ft was revolutionary for its time and would not have been possible using stone – the traditional method of construction.
The ironwork was cast at a foundry near Wrexham, then transported via canal by sea to Speymouth, where it was loaded onto wagons and taken to the site.
Each end of the bridge features a 50ft mock-medieval stone tower, with arrow slits and miniature crenellated battlements.
