Help is wanted to try identify what this might have been in the skies above Moray.

.

The photograph above was taken in Dallas at about 11am on June 2 last year.

And here it is again, only magnified until it's become slightly pixilated.

.

The image was passed onto an organisation called UFO Identified which specialises in such sightings.

Alongside the photograph, the person who took the photo also wrote a few words.

They stated: "I noticed a bright flash.

"Focussing on the object it appeared to go dark and then bright.

"My first thought was it was a helium party balloon.

"However I live far out in the countryside so it would be unusual."

The spotter added that three from jets, presumably from RAF Lossiemouth, flew over the area not long afterwards.

The Dallas incident was just one of 47 cases in Scotland reported to UFO Identified last year.

Ash Ellis set up the organisation in April 2020 to better understand what's going on in UK's skies.

He's keen to get away from any notions of flying saucers or little green men.

For that reason, rather than unidentified flying objects, he prefers to talk about UAPs, or unidentified aerial phenomena.

His logic is that many of the sightings are not actually objects at all, but meterological phenomena or other things.

Instead, Ash reckons that 95% of cases are identifiable.

His own interest in the subject began when, at the age of 10, he spotted something above his hometown of Warrington.

He says: "Fortunately, I wasn't by myself at the time.

"Half the street, including lots of adults, were out that night back in 1997 when Haley's Comet was going past.

"Suddenly we all saw a triangular object fly past with a light at each of its three corners."

Years later, at the start of the pandemic, he found himself on furlough and with time on his hands.

He says: "That's when I started seriously examining other sightings.

"However I quickly realised there wasn't an online site which was collating all the data.

"So that's when I decided to start one.

"There were more than 400 sightings in the UK alone last year.

"Worldwide, that number runs into the tens of thousands

"And that's only the ones we get to hear about.

"There are probably many, many more where people decide to keep what they've seen to themselves.

Ash adds: "If anyone can help us identify what this is in the skies above Dallas, we'd be really interested to hear from them."
