FULL 'dress rehearsals' of launch procedures can now take place at a test site in Kinloss after the arrival of a 40-tonne launchpad.

Forres based rocket manufacturers Orbex recently filmed the structure's 80-mile road trip from Peterhead to Kinloss - a journey that required police escort.

The film also shows the structure, dubbed Orbex LP1, being crane lifted into place.

Motive Offshore Group constructed the launchpad at their headquarters in Banff in line with strict international standards.

The launchpad will be used for Orbex's 'Prime Rocket' which has been designed to transport small satellites weighing around 150kg to low earth orbit.

Once preparations are complete, launches will be conducted from Space Hub Sutherland.
