WATCH: Elgin Parkrun marks special birthday run

ELGIN Parkrun celebrated its 6th anniversary today with runners from all over Moray.

The first runner home on the birthday run was Gareth Jenkins who crossed the line in 17 minutes 33 seconds.

The nationwide Parkrun has become very popular in Moray with regular runs every Saturday morning at 9.30am around the Cooper Park in Elgin.

There was a field of 139 runners for the special run, including a number of participants in the 80-84 year category.

The event is open to all ages and abilities, and is free to take part.

Paul Hughes was the race director for the 6th anniversary run.

All you have to do to take part is register online at https://www.parkrun.org.uk/elgin/

Volunteers are also needed every week to ensure the run can go ahead safely and you can also register to become a volunteer at the same web site.
