War medal is found in field

A LONG-lost medal from World War I has been reunited with a soldier's family after it was unearthed in a field.

A new heritage group from the Parish of Dyke and Moy returned the award to the grandson of its recipient, Private Charles Esson Cameron.

The item was found by one of the group's members, Colin Gauld, a keen metal detectorist.

The British war medal bore an inscription of the soldier's name, service number and regiment on its milled edge.
