VENGABOYS will play a brand-new annual Elgin festival on their visit to Moray in April 2022 – and you can secure your ticket today.

It was announced to some commotion last week that the 90s Eurodance group – famous for their songs Boom Boom Boom Boom and We Like To Party – would be visiting Elgin in spring, although details remained few and far between.

It can now be confirmed that Vengaboys are the first act announced for the MacMoray Family Easter Festival, set to take place on April 16.

MacMoray Family Easter Festival 2022, which is being organised by YBD Music, will mark the launch of what is set to become an annual event in Elgin.

There will be music for people of all ages on the outdoor main stage – with many more big-named acts, including the headliners, to be announced in due course – as well as entertainment for children, including face painting, a bouncy castle and numerous activities.

For adults, there will be a large marquee and a bar, while there will also be an indoor stage for traditional Scottish music.

The event's location is listed as Cooper Park on Vengaboys' website. However, this is yet to be fully confirmed, with organisers to meet with Moray Council and Police Scotland on October 25 to grant a public entertainment license.

Festival organiser Andy Macdonald, from Lossiemouth, said: "We are working extremely closely with Moray Council and licensing officers to bring you the safest, friendliest and most exciting event to ever come to Moray.

"What we can guarantee is the date, April 16, and start time, 10am. The location cannot be official yet.

"Please remember that current legislation means you will need your double jab to attend.

"MacMoray, Moray Council and licensing's priority is your health and wellbeing."

You can place a deposit and secure your ticket for the festival at 5pm today at www.MacMoray.com.

Andy added: "I highly recommend securing your ticket early as the event will be a sell-out.

"If we experience any issues regarding the location or another wave of the pandemic, you will receive your deposit back."

The Northern Scot is working closely with the event organiser and band announcements will appear in the print version of the paper on a Friday before anywhere else.
