TWO coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded in Moray in the last week.

Both people passed away within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test.

Last week, we reported that Moray's coronavirus death toll stood at 65 since the outbreak began.

However, the National Records of Scotland have confirmed that the official toll is 64, including the newly-reported deaths.

Of those 64, Public Health Scotland have confirmed that 53 tested positive for virus before dying.

It is possible for statistics to alter slightly over time as autopsies return and causes of death are determined – with only NRS' statistics for 2020 being set in stone.

Meanwhile, PHS statistics show that 340 people in Moray have tested positive for the virus on PCR tests in the last week. Across the same time frame, 210 negative PCR tests were returned.

Since January 6, 2189 people in the area have tested positive on a PCR test, 2301 have tested positive on an LFD test and 729 have been positive on both.

Moray neighbourhood update

All of Moray's 24 neighbourhood areas confirmed at least six positive PCR tests between January 31 and February 6.

Elgin was the worst-hit town in Moray with a total of 99 positive PCR tests – compared to 100 last week.

Meanwhile, there were 32 positive PCR tests in Buckie, 31 in Lossiemouth, 30 in Forres and six in Keith and Fife Keith.
