The Rotary Treasure Trail and Cycle, set to launch on Sunday, July 2, will be run by rotary clubs in the area, Forres, Elgin, Keith, Buckie, Banff and Huntly, as well as Rotaract Moray.

The event has two parts – a treasure hunt and a cycle. The treasure hunt will take place in each of the six towns mentioned, with competitors being tasked with finding four posters in each town.

Each town completed is one entry into a prize draw, so people can complete as many towns as they want – from one right the way to six.

People who complete the challenge in all six towns will enter a grand prize draw, with main prizes including a hamper and vouchers.

The second part of the event will see people set with the challenge of finding 11 posters on a cycle route between Forres and Banff.

Posters should be easy enough to find – with help from the phone application What3Words – so the cycle can be enjoyed by those taking part.

The Rotary Treasure Trail and Cycle was the brainchild of Aleisha Kelman, from Elgin, who is the current Rotaract President, and soon to be secretary.

She said: "We wanted to do something fun and inclusive that people of all ages can enjoy and came up with this idea.

"It's trying to get people out and about over the summer, and it's a free event that you can do without a car.

"It will run for six weeks, so people can do a town per week of the holidays or do them all in one week, it's a really flexible event."

At the end of the competition, there will be two prizes for under 12s and two for over 12s. Everyone who completes one town will be entered into a draw, while completing all six will see a competitor entered into both.

Clues that will help find the posters can be found on the trail's newly-formed Facebook page, which is called Rotary Trail and Cycle.

Aleisha is also keeping competitors up-to-date on the competition's progress with information on the page.

When posters are found, they should be emailed to Rotarytrailandcycle@hotmail.com
