A FORRES charity is inviting people to attend a meeting to learn about its Community Asset Transfer (CAT) process.

Transition Town Forres (TTF), which has run a number of projects from its site at Transition Town Forres, Bogton Road, IV36 3TW, since 2009, is holding two meetings in the coming weeks.

The group is in the process of agreeing a CAT with Moray Council having been priced out of paying its rent – which was due to rise to £13,200 from £3600.

A successful CAT application would mean that TTF would effectively be owners of the site, removing ongoing rental costs and allowing the charity to develop facilities further.

The CAT process was extended earlier this year to allow time for Highlands and Islands Enterprise to carry out a Social Value Impact Study and to submit the report.

The study concluded that the total value of the things on offer at Transition Town Forres amounts to £109,253.

The council is now asking for further comments in light of the report, and TTF want to make sure that everyone who wants to has their say.

The charity is also keen for people to ask questions about the process, share concerns or thoughts and learn more.

People will be offered to chance to do this at upcoming meetings. The first will take place on May 28 between 2pm and 4pm, with the second on June 11 between 11am and 1pm. Tea and cake will be provided.

If you're unable to make it to either of the meetings but want to have your say on the Community Asset Transfer, you can do so.

You can leave any comments or thoughts in the representation form at https://online.moray.gov.uk/form/auto/cat_request_ext.

You can also email the council at CAT@moray.gov.uk (use the heading CAT Bogton Road) to leave your comments.

There are also paper copies available at the Transition Town Centre.
