TRAFFIC lights at a busy crossing in Forres are being fixed - two months after they stopped working.

The signal on Grantown Road near Grant Drive leading from Thornhill to Mannachie playground was damaged in a road accident at 11.30pm on November 20 but is now being repaired by Moray Council's contractor.

A local authority spokesman said: "Since then, we made sure the area is safe.

"We ordered new poles as two had been damaged beyond repair.

"Unfortunately Siemens, our maintenance contractor, has been hit by a series of Covid-related shortages.

"We hope to have the lights fixed within the next week."
