Three new coronavirus deaths recorded in Moray as 444 PCR positives are returned

THREE coronavirus deaths have been recorded in Moray in the last week, with the death toll since the outbreak began now 64.

The three people that have died all tested positive for the virus and passed away within 28 days.

A total of 50 people in Moray have now tested positive for virus before dying, while 14 had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.

Meanwhile, 444 people in Moray tested positive for the virus on PCR tests in the last week. Across the same time frame, 272 negative PCR tests were returned.

New figures show that, since January 6, 1786 people in the area have tested positive on a PCR test, 1515 have tested positive on an LFD test and 437 have been positive on both.

All of Moray's 24 neighbourhood areas confirmed at least 10 positive PCR tests between January 17 and January 23.

Elgin was the worst-hit town in Moray with a total of 101 positive PCR tests – down on 111 last week.

Meanwhile, there 53 positive PCR tests in Lossiemouth, 44 in Forres, 39 in Buckie and 16 in Keith and Fife Keith.

The other cases are as follows:

  • North Speyside: 24
  • Cullen, Portknockie, Findochty, Drybridge and Berryhillock: 22
  • Burghead, Roseisle and Laich: 19
  • Findhorn, Kinloss and Pluscarden Valley: 16
  • Mosstodloch, Portgordon and seaward: 15
  • Rafford, Dallas, Dyke to Dava: 14
  • South Speyside and the Cabrach: 13
  • Rural Keith and Strathisla: 13
  • Lhanbryde, Urquhart, Pitgavney and seaward: 13
  • Fochabers, Aultmore, Clochan and Ordiquish: 10

The number of people aged 12 plus in Moray to have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine is 73,001. This accounts for 86.8 per cent of the eligible population.

The number to have received one dose is 77,734 – or 92.4 per cent of those eligible.

In total, 58,972 people aged 12 plus have received a booster/third jab, accounting for 70.1 per cent of the population.
