THREE new coronavirus-related deaths have been confirmed in Moray within the last seven days, taking the area's total since the outbreak began to 32.

In the same seven-day period, 75 people tested positive for the virus across the area, meaning 1075 cases have been confirmed in Moray since March 2020.

All three residents who died this week tested positive for Covid-19 and passed away within 28 days.

In total, 24 people in Moray have died within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test, while eight had Covid-19 mentioned on their death certificate.

The 75 positive cases of coronavirus represents a reduction on the 91 confirmed in last week's update, which was also down on the 119 confirmed the week prior.

However, again, there was a reduction in the number of tests taken. Since February 2, 369 people have tested negative for the virus in Moray – down on the 450 last week and 575 two weeks ago.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 12,909 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began. That's an increase of 340 on the 12,569 reported last week.

It was confirmed today that nearly 14,000 Moray residents have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine. That's more than 15 per cent of the area's population.
