Three-car crash on the A96 near Burgie

The A96 between Forres and Elgin was closed for a spell last night after a three-vehicle crash.

Three cars were involved in the incident, which happened on the Forres side of the turn-off towards Burgie at around 5.25pm.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were on the scene and said three casualties were handed into ambulance care.

An SFRS spokesperson said: "We were called to assist emergency service partners on the A96, between Forres and Elgin, at 5.31pm on Thursday, March 16 to reports of a road traffic collision involving three vehicles.

"Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene where crews worked to make the area safe.

"Three casualties were handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service. Crews left at 5.47pm."

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: "Around 5.25pm on Thursday, March 16, we were called to a report of a three-vehicle crash on the A96 near Brodieshill, Forres.

"One vehicle was uplifted and the road reopened.”
