A local swimming group is looking for more members to join.

Forres Flounders Adult Swimming Club (FFASC) - founded more than 35 years ago and still meeting at Forres Swimming Pool at 8pm on Tuesday nights - offers friendship and regular exercise.

Secretary Jane Sinclair confirmed the club was started by local swimmers Margaret Blackwell and Roseanne Anderson in 1987.

She explained: “They had both been involved in Forres Bluefins and decided to form an adult club. Current member Alan Ralph was one of the first but most of the rest started around 1990. Most of us still here were coached by Margaret. We enjoy swimming for fitness and wellbeing, and of course the friendship that comes from that.”

There are currently 10 members with plenty of room for more - FFASC have the pool to themselves during their sessions.

“Do you enjoy swimming lengths?” asked Jane. “If so, then why not join us?

“The club is friendly and welcoming - as long as you are over 18 and can swim two lengths of the pool, FFASC might be for you.

“We are a small, non-competitive club looking to increase our membership.”

Go along on the night, email Flounders.secretary@btinternet.com or call 01309 672984 for more information.
