A PACKED summer programme of events at Brodie Castle gets underway on Friday, June 30.

The National Trust for Scotland is promising vintage vehicles, open air theatre, nature trails, a horse show and daily castle tours.

It is open seven days a week during July and August from 10am to 4pm.

The adventure kicks off on Friday, June 30 with an open air theatre performance of 'Bad Dad' by best-selling children's author David Walliams. The cops and robbers tale will be brought to life by members of Heartbreak Productions from 6pm.

On Sunday, July 2 the Northern Working Horse Society summer show takes centre stage.

From magnificent heavy horses such as Clydesdales down to miniature Shetlands, alongside moorland and mountain ponies and the native Highland breed.

From July 3 right through to August 14, children can join the summer trail throughout the estate, and families can take a tranquil walk around the pond or enjoy a picnic in the beautiful shrubbery after playing in the adventure playground.

Among the attractions is the Playful Garden which is an enclosed sensory space that drives imagination in youngsters and features Scotland's biggest bunny sculpture and other fun characters.

There are bush craft basics workshops delivered by local expert, Will Hall on July 18, 19 and 20, where you can learn to track animals and forage.

Up to 300 gleaming vintage and classic vehicles will roll into Brodie on Sunday, August 13 for the Historic Wheels event. This will be the 47th annual rally of the club.

Throughout the summer, visitors will also be able to take a walk back in time by joining one of the daily guided tours of the centuries-old pink turreted castle. Once home to the Brodie clan, the castle features an impressive art collection and a 6000-volume library.

Pam Hill, the trust's operations manager at Brodie Castle, said: "We have a very exciting programme of events lined up this summer and really look forward to welcoming visitors.

"Brodie has always been part of the community and this year we're opening our doors seven days a week to be even more inclusive for locals and tourists alike."
