Moray Council has added student accommodation to its construction plans at Dallas Dhu near Forres.

The local authority was already proposing up to 180 houses on a site immediately north of the distillery.

Now it wants to add accommodation for up to 40 students.

The council has submitted what's known as a PAN (proposal of application notice) to its own planning committee.

Such notices are a legal requirement for any development consisting of more than 50 houses.

The idea is that if councillors and the public are aware of what's being proposed, they can provide feedback before a formal planning application is lodged, thereby saving time and money.

The housing development is a partnership between Moray Council, Altyre Estate, Grampian Housing Association and the Digital Health and Care Innovation Centre.

Its stated intention is to "deliver a new net-zero, sustainable community with multi-functional outdoor space to encourage physical activity and food growing".

The PAN for Dallas Dhu will go before Moray Council's planning committee on Tuesday.

It can be viewed by clicking HERE and going to page 143.

Two public events are planned for Forres Town Hall at some point during January and February.
