STORMS Malik and Corrie ripped across the north of Scotland over the weekend, leaving many areas powerless in its wake.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) remained at alert status for its northern customers on Saturday and Sunday as its teams responded to significant damage caused to network infrastructure.

The Dunphail area is still suffering a power cut - provisions have been made for residents at Edinkillie Hall and Forres House Community Centre where heat, charging and wash facilities are available.

SSEN has also confirmed that customers without power booked into hotels or staying with friends or family can reclaim their costs.

Logie and Alves Primary School are closed because of the ongoing power outage.

SSEN expects that full customer restoration will be in the early part of this week, particularly in rural areas.

A spokesperson said: "To help customers make informed choices and potentially alternative arrangements where possible, many faults currently have an estimated restoration time of Tuesday night.

"SSEN is continuing to update this information for individual faults as its field teams are able to provide a more specific restoration estimate. Customers will be notified proactively as estimated restoration times for their fault are updated.

"SSEN continues to work closely with local resilience partnerships to help coordinate community response and provide support to customers affected."
