A Star Wars fan from Forres who opened up his themed garden to raise money for charity had 100 visitors.

Mark Donald of 10 Castle Street held the event on Saturday, August 5 on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Care, showcasing the other-wordly landscape he has put together single-handedly over the last six years.

He said: “The opening went brilliantly in fine weather. The first hour, there was nobody here but after lunch it went crazy! It felt great to see so many people come along.”

The site currently features 31 life size characters and six large/life size spaceships from the Star Wars film and TV franchise that Mark has made himself or bought in.

Mark said: “I provided a semi-guided tour and was on-hand to check the sounds for the characters and ships was ongoing while answering any questions.”

He added: “Over the next few years, I plan to add more transport ships and characters while perfecting the landscapes.”

Mark asked that visitors make donations to Macmillan. His donations page is at https://www.justgiving.com/page/starwarsmyworld.

He said: “I’ve passed £200 so far! The collection bucket will be out again on the final open day on Saturday, September 2 then totalled up and given to Macmillan.”

He finished: “Many of the visitors couldn’t believe what I’ve achieved by myself in such a small time frame while working full time.

“It’s worth all the hard work to hear positive comments and so many happy faces.”
