AN open day in an other-wordly garden in the centre of Forres raised a three figure sum for charity.

Mark Donald of 10 Castle Street showcased his Star Wars landscape on Saturday, August 5, raising £310 for Macmillan Cancer Care.

He said: “I’m proud that 300 people visited my garden this year. I will continue to raise funds for charity and will be going door-to-door with sponsorship forms in future.”

Mark’s Star Wars garden features life size characters and spaceships from the film and TV franchise has made and bought.

He said: “I’ll have two open days annually in future, unless anyone wants to pay for a private open day. It would be a nice backdrop for a special day.”

The next open day will be on May 4 next year - the other will be on Saturday, August 1.

“This will allow me to do more in between,” explained Mark, “like making and adding things to the garden!”

Mark has already made a new addition and is working on another.

He finished: “I’ll be bringing along Cosplay friends next time. I’ve also fixed my 3D printer so will give away themed items on future open days.”
