Gordon had been thrown from a moving vehicle and due to his injuries had to have one of his legs amputated. The Society was unable to find those responsible for causing Gordon’s injuries.

Scotland’s animal welfare charity cared for Gordon for five months following his treatment and were delighted to find him a forever home in September last year. Unfortunately, he has recently been returned to the care of the SSPCA.

Lynda Hourston, assistant manager of the Ayrshire rehoming and rescue centre where Gordon is currently staying, said: “When Gordon first arrived in our care in 2019 he was so nervous and fearful of people, it was heartbreaking.

“Once Gordon’s leg had been removed he returned to the centre for rehabilitation and care. We worked hard to bring him out of his shell and gradually his confidence grew.

“He was with us for five months before he found a home. We were sad to see him go but delighted he had been given a second chance.

“Gordon had such a compelling story that he fronted our Christmas campaign in 2019. It made it even better that his tale had a happy ending.

“Unfortunately things didn’t work out and he was returned to us last month after a year in his home.

“We would love to find Gordon’s forever home. He is a lovely boy and just needs an owner who will be patient and be able to give him some boundaries.

“Because of his past, he is very nervous when he firsts meets people so it will take a few meetings at the centre for Gordon to begin to come out of his shell.

“He knows our team so well and he adores everyone. This won’t be the dog that someone coming in to the centre will see. But in time, they will.

“Gordon can’t live in a flat that doesn’t have a lift as going up and down stairs regularly will put pressure on his missing leg. He will also need to be the only pet in the home.

“This beautiful boy just needs his special someone to come along and let him be the adoring pet he wants to be.”

Anyone who can offer Gordon a home should visit the Scottish SPCA’s website and apply online at www.scottishspca.org/rehome-a-pet/3846-gordon-fletcher
