A local charity is inviting the wider community to a Spring Fun Day.

Transition Town Forres (TTF) hope as many people as possible enjoy the free event at Bogton Road from 11am-3pm on Saturday, April 8 featuring children’s crafts, a scavenger hunt, sunflower seed planting and food.

TTF board member, Jane Gambrill, said: “It is the first family event we plan to run throughout the year. They will raise funds to support our organisation while raising awareness of our activities and the Environmental Education and Healthy Living Centre here.

“Hopefully we will encourage younger members of our community’s connection with nature.”

Attendees will be encouraged to plant sunflowers ahead of a competition to see which grows tallest.

A scavenger hunt in TTF’s Community Garden will be nature-based and each participant will receive an Easter egg.

Storyteller Margot Henderson will host sessions at 12pm and 2pm.

“All the food will be home made from fresh ingredients,” finished Jane. “There will be soup, potato wedges, home-made biscuits and fruit crumble, with vegan options.”

“Spring has sprung, come and enjoy the fun!”
