FAMILIES enjoyed learning through play at a free sports event during the Easter holidays.
Nearly 50 children and adults attended the Moray Council Community Learning and Engagement and Active Schools-organised indoor family games session at Forres House Community Centre on Thursday, April 6.
Ian Bailey from the local authority’s adult and Family Learning Team confirmed all attendees had fun.
He said: “The afternoon went really well. Everyone participated, tried new things and worked together as families.
“Folk said the event brightened their day. Other comments were that it was ‘family bonding that didn’t break the budget’, and ‘had so much fun together’.”
Active Schools have a full programme of events for the new term.
Adult and Family Learning offer one-to-one literacy and numeracy learning, support for driving theory and run family learning events across Moray.
Both get families learning together, encouraging parents and children to try new things side by side.
They ran two successful family orienteering events last year and will run more sessions following the one at the centre.
Forres families played indoor bowls, soft archery, basketball and badminton.
Sam Morrison and Ann McIntosh from Forres Indoor Bowls set up and instructed on how to bowl. Paul Rogan from Active Schools was supported by council sports coaches Ewan McRitchie and Fiona Reuss-Newland.
Every attendee received a prize of a Cadbury’s Crème egg.
