A recycling charity based on the Greshop Industrial Estate has invested £30,000 of Scottish Government funding in a new vehicle.

The public voted to award training, refurbishment and re-use social enterprise, ReBOOT, the support from the Just Transition Participatory Budgeting Fund administered by Money For Moray and tsiMoray.

ReBOOT manager Lee McGrath said: “We were over the moon to be awarded £30,000 as part of the public vote.

“The new van helps sustain our free collection service for the public and businesses across the north.

“We raise awareness around recycling and re-use of old technology.”

He added: “The free collection service is a reminder to everyone that they don’t have to bin old tech’.

“We can alleviate disposal problems, saving more electronics going to landfill and potentially extending the life of devices.

“The free collection service helps those unable to get to our facilities in Forres.

“We bundle collections together to enable us to be as efficient as we can.”

.

ReBOOT started in 1997 as part of a Moray Council/Moray Voluntary Service Organisation project.

It has since grown into an independent company refurbishing used IT equipment.

ReBOOT also use a 2005 Renault Traffic van for collections and deliveries which has close to 190,000 miles on the clock.

“We purchased it second hand about seven years ago,” said Lee.

“It has served us well but the cost to our budgets and environmental cost of running an old van means it’s not viable to keep running it.”
