LOCAL fitness instructors are organising a challenge in support of a national charity.

Mollie Powney (23) and Eleni Cawthra-Hewitt (32) hope as many people as possible attend Forres Town Hall on the afternoon of Saturday, June 17, to help raise funds for the MS Society while increasing fitness levels.

Ellicize owner Eleni has been running group classes in Moray since 2016. Teaching classes in Forres, Roseisle and Rafford, she specialises in exercise for older adults, pre and post-natal - and anyone in between - who enjoys having fun while getting fit.

She said: “We have run a few fitness charity events before and decided it’s time to come together again! We chose to raise money for the MS Society because we have both worked with people suffering with the disease.

“We’d like to raise £300.”

The Multiple Sclerosis Society is the UK’s largest charity for people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS). The organisation funds research, campaigns for social and political change, provides services and compiles reports on prevalence and living situations for people with MS.

Mollie is a Level 4 personal trainer who specialises in exercise for neurological conditions. She works at the Life and Sole gym on the Forres Enterprise Park.

She said: “We will be kicking off the event with Pound at 1pm followed by Zumba at 2pm.

“Pound Fit provides the perfect atmosphere for letting loose, getting energised, toning up and rocking out. It uses lighter weighted drumsticks to allow participants to become the music. It is easily modified and the alternative vibe and welcoming philosophy appeals to all ages and abilities.

“Zumba is for everybody and every body! It mixes low and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party.

“Both 45 minute classes are designed for all fitness abilities.”

Pound Fit and Zumba cost £5 per class or £6 on the day.

Advanced booking for the sessions is recommended. Email Eleni at ellicize@gmail.com to book a space.
