Scott Gallop (54) was due to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court today after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman at several locations in Forres.

However, sentencing has been deferred until Thursday, October 27, as the court awaits a letter from social workers.

Gallop, who retired at the end of 2018, is charged with sexually assaulting a woman on "various occasions" on and between May 1, 2017, and September 3, 2017 at more than two locations in the town.

Gallop repeatedly touched his victim on the buttocks.

On September 4, at a further location, Gallop assaulted the woman again – touching her on the buttocks and on her body.

Gallop's conduct was first looked at during an official probe into claims that a so-called 'Boy's Club' existed at Forres police station which harboured a culture of sexism, bullying and misogyny.

The independent police watchdog's review cost £247,000 and took 15 months to carry out.

However, ultimately, it was decided that there was only sufficient evidence to prosecute Gallop.
