Section of A96 remains closed between Elgin and Aberdeen following multi-vehicle collision

A SECTION of the A96 between Elgin and Aberdeen has closed south of Huntly following a multi-vehicle collision this morning.

The road was closed after 7am this morning.

The road was closed at 7.41am and remains closed in both directions as of 10am this morning.

Traffic Scotland added that due to the number of vehicles involved in the collision no vehicles can pass.

Police have set up a local diversion.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 7.36am on Wednesday, March 8 to reports of a road traffic collision near Huntly, Aberdeenshire.

"Operations Control mobilised three appliances to the A96, where firefighters were met by a collision involving nine vehicles.

"Crews worked to assist their emergency service partners and to make the area safe before leaving the scene.

"Four casualties received a precautionary check-up at the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service."
