VOLUNTEERS improving a local beauty spot are grateful for a donation of two benches from Moray Waste Busters.

The local Sanquhar Dam (Pond) Restoration Group (SDRG) - AKA ‘The Chain Gang’ - have temporarily sited the galvanised seats close to the smaller pond at Sanquhar to enjoy views across the Mosset Burn.

Over the years, SDRG have also erected interpretation signage, upgraded paths, improved water channelling, cleared invasive plant species and planted native trees, shrubs and flowers.

Spokesman Brian McDonald confirmed seven benches have been set up around the ponds so far.

He said: “Some we made ourselves, others have been donated. There are also some 30+ bird and bat boxes - all of which were nested last year.”

Moray Waste Busters gift items to community groups, schools and other social enterprises.

Spokeswoman Laura Young said: “We collected the benches at the beginning of May - they were built for a school but never installed.

“We’re really pleased to see them being re-used for everyone to enjoy views from!”
