CELEBRATE the new year with musical adventures this week when the Scottish Chanber Orchestra (SCO) comes to Aberdeen.

Wednesday, January 3 at the Music Hall will see SCO perform Viennese New Year under the direction of vibrant young Prague-born conductor Jiří Rožeň.

The concert offers a tempting selection of musical confections to enthral and delight – from the rich musical flavours of Rožeň’s homeland, in the form of Dvořák’s dance-hall Prague Waltzes, to exquisite tidbits from Hungary and Germany.

Brilliant British soprano Jennifer France brings her silvery vocal sparkle to showpieces by Lehár and Zeller, as well as Richard Strauss’s touching love song Amor.

The evening concludes with the opulence of the Strauss family’s Vienna amid the timeless beauty of The Blue Danube.

The show gets under way at 7.30pm with tickets priced between £14 and £32. These are available from www.aberdeenperformingarts.com, phone (01224) 641122 or visit the box office at His Majesty’s Theatre or the Music Hall.
