ALL schools in Moray will close again for two days of teacher strike action.
The additional strike action will be taken on February 28 and March 1 with almost all of the teaching unions taking part.
Moray Council has taken the decision to close all primary and secondary schools to pupils on those dates due to the potential high numbers involved.
In a letter sent out to parents and carers today, Vivienne Cross, Head of Education, said: "These decisions are never taken lightly however on this occasion there is no doubt that this is our only option."
She added: "I fully appreciate that this is very inconvenient for families and so we are giving you advance warning so that alternative arrangements can be made where necessary.
"For those young people who are currently in their senior phase and preparing for forthcoming examinations, we would suggest that they make full use of the National e-learning resource, SQA past papers available on their website, Scholar and any other revision resources available to them during the disruption period.
"Individual secondary schools will continue to signpost young people to online course materials and revision resources to support their studies."
The news comes after teaching unions rejected a revised pay offer of six per cent from the Scottish Government and COSLA yesterday.
EIS General Secretary Andrea Bradley said: "This is another inadequate offer to Scotland's teachers, which was unanimously rejected by the EIS Salaries Committee earlier today."
Ms Bradley added: "Teachers have already lost more than one per cent of their salaries through being forced into strike action so, essentially, teachers already more than paid for this revised offer themselves.
"This is just yet more smoke and mirrors from the Scottish Government and COSLA in attempting to make this offer appear more generous than it actually is."
Moray Council say they will keep parents and carers updated regarding any further disruption and whether the situation changes with national negotiations ongoing.
Early Learning and Childcare Centres will not be impacted by the strike action and will operate as normal.
