PUPILS at a local primary are selling a calendar featuring their artwork to raise money for their school.

Over the last three years, enterprising, artistic youngsters at Dyke have made wall calendars which have been sold to bring in vital funds for the school - every class has a hand in helping with the artwork and to date over £700 has been raised, put towards buying playground equipment, literacy packs and school trips.

Parent council chairwoman, Faye Miller, confirmed the project is organised by the parents with support from the teachers, who ensure the pupils get involved by doing drawings that represent each month of the year.

She said: "People enjoy having the calendars as they are always so beautiful - the pupils do a wonderful job. They really enjoy doing the artwork and then seeing the final result.

"They also make great Christmas presents as parents and other family members like having art created by their children all year round."

In previous years Dyke Primary had support from outlets including Brodie Countryfare.

"This year, due to Coronavirus, it's more tricky but we've still had a fantastic response.

"Trips and outings have been affected since last March, but it’s still vital that we continue to raise money for the school so that when things return to normal we have funds to help support the pupils with learning opportunities.

"Some of the money we've raised was put towards purchasing literacy packs to help support home learning which has been a vital resource."
