Royal Countryside Fund cash boost for rural sustainability schemes

GRASSROOTS projects aiming to boost the viability and sustainability of rural communities could be line for grants of up to £25,000.

The Royal Countryside Fund's (RCF) flagship Supporting Rural Communities programme awards a total of £500,000 annually to power community-led solutions to a range of sustainability issues.

Grants are for a maximum of £25,000 over two years, and applicants must be constituted, not for profit organisations with an income of less than £500,000. Projects need to take place in villages and towns in rurally isolated areas, where access to services is limited.

The deadline for applications is Friday, October 20.

The charity's current strategy sets out clear targets for the next three years, extending its reach to support 10,000 family farms and increasing their help to rural communities to become more self-sufficient and viable.

These initiatives such as the Farm Resilience Programme and the Supporting Rural Communities grants.
