Moray's MP has urged local groups to submit bids to the UK Government’s community ownership fund.

Douglas Ross's call comes as the second round opens of the £150million fund, which can allow communities take control of pubs, music and sports venues, historic buildings and other facilities for the benefit of local people.

He said: "If there's a local asset at risk in Moray that you do not wish to lose from your community, then the fund can help to safeguard it.

"Successful bids can enable community assets to thrive once again as well as help accelerate the economic recovery in Moray."

The fund has been updated to widen eligibility criteria.

This includes removing the requirement that assets have had a use within the last five years.

Assets which have had a previous community use will also be eligible.
