Rafford Scottish Country Dancers raise £250 each for Rafford Village Hall, Forres In Bloom, Forres, Nairn and District Riding for the Disabled, and Forres Highland Games
A GROUP of dancers has donated a total of £1000 they raised during the summer to other local organisations.
Rafford Scottish Country Dancers (Rafford SCD) presented cheques for £250 to Rafford Village Hall, Forres In Bloom, Forres, Nairn and District Riding for the Disabled, and Forres Highland Games.
RSCD member Neil Ellison confirmed the money was raised at ‘summer socials’ at Rafford Village Hall in May, June, July and August.
“More than 40 people attended each,” he said. “ The programme was devised by our teacher Christine Grant and included a raffle and light supper during break times. We wanted to support local organisations: the hall because we use it; Forres In Bloom because their work benefits everyone; the RDA because they need funds for transporting ponies etc; and the games because they need to repair the roof on their shed.”
Rafford SCD is open to new members.
“Dancing keeps you fit and it’s fun,” said Mr Ellison. “We would like to see more men get involved, plus younger generations.”
