THE REGIONAL branch of a nationwide movement organised a festive fayre in Forres.

Pride in Moray’s Queer Christmas Market at Forres Town Hall on Saturday, December 9, featured a variety of stalls and was attended by more than 70 visitors from 2-5pm.

Pride in Moray chairman David Harrison confirmed stallholders described a “friendly and chatty” atmosphere.

He said: “The event went very well.

“There were fantastic products for sale and we also had sand art, face painting and Christmas crafts.

“Forres Academy staff sold crafts and decorations pupils made - the school made around £100, a great reward for how hard the students worked.”

Pride Moray promotes equality, diversity and advances in education to eliminate discrimination against the LGBT+ community.

The campaigners organised the first Pride in Moray march in the centre of Elgin in September 2022.

The now annual event started at Market Green, Forres this September, moving through High Street to a well-attended festival at Grant Park featuring a variety of entertainment.

Mr Harrison added: “Pride in Moray is not just a once-a-year event. We are here to support the community all year round and have fun along the way!”

Pride in Moray is currently planning events for LGBT History Month in February and preparing for Pride in Moray 2024, provisionally set for September 7 in Forres.
