MORE than 100 people submitted their views on the future of a popular park to the local authority.

Moray Council ran an online survey in May to find out what the community would like to see at Mannachie Park, with £85,000 - £70k from the Scottish Government’s Play Renewal Fund and £15k raised by Forres Area Forum - available to improve it.

A council spokesperson confirmed they also engaged with a total of 678 local primary school pupils between September and December last year, to canvas ideas.

She said: “There were 102 responses to initial engagement around how Mannachie Park could be improved. These shaped the Mannachie Masterplan and identified that the play park needed improvements.

“We worked with a steering group to finalise scope of service, published as part of a tender documentation on Public Contracts Scotland.

“A variety of play opportunities were requested, including swinging, sliding, climbing, as well as equipment which provides opportunities for inclusive play.”

Design submissions will be returned on August 17 then a public vote will be carried to determine the preferred design and equipment.
