A LOCAL festival planned for late summer has enjoyed a windfall of £5.9k in support.

Pride in Moray at Grant Park has been awarded £5,941 for staging, sound and lighting by the Berry Burn Community Fund.

Pride co-organiser, David Harrison, was thrilled to hear the “fantastic news”.

He said: “The funding will make a huge difference. We are so pleased Berry Burn were able to help, they have been incredibly supportive.

“The funding will be used on for staging, sound and lighting provided by Event360 and Standing Ovation so the event will look and sound even more amazing.”

Pride in Moray celebrates diversity and shows support for the LGBTQ+ community. Attendees make connections, learn about other lifestyles and help create a more accepting society. Grant Park was chosen to host the second event after the success of the first on Elgin Plainstones last year.

There will be a variety of activities, music, and entertainment aimed at promoting equality, inclusivity and positivity.

David said: “The preparations are going well. We have a wide range of entertainment planned, from local bands and singers to local theatre productions.

“We also have stalls booked for the event but there is room for more so if anyone is interested in having one please get in touch.”

Pride Moray has also received funding from: The National Lottery, The Adam Family Foundation, The Moray Arts Foundation, Parklands Care Homes, Walkers Shortbread and TSI Moray.

“Community funds play a vital role in supporting the development and wellbeing of communities,” said David. “In the case of Forres, the Berry Burn Community Fund helps essential infrastructure projects, supports local businesses and organisations, promotes cultural and recreational activities, and enhances the overall quality of life for residents.

“For marginalized people like the LGBTQ+ community, funds like these offer crucial support and recognition.”

Pride in Moray will be held from 1-8pm on Saturday, September 2.
