Police appeal in Moray:- Seals chased into sea at Findhorn

Police are seeking the public's help following reports of three people deliberately chasing seals into the sea at Findhorn.

The alleged incident is said to have taken place on March 19.

In an appeal for information was released by the police at the weekend, a spokesperson for the force said: "On Sunday 19th March 2023, Police Scotland received a report of three persons deliberately chasing seals into the sea at the designated seal haul-out site at Findhorn.

"If anyone has any further information about this incident or witnesses anyone deliberately disturbing the seals, please report it via 101."

PC Hannah Corbett, a wildlife and environmental officer asked members of the public not to approach or chase the seals.

She said: "It is understandable that people want to watch the seals, but this a protected haul-out site. I am urging everyone to be responsible when visiting the area."

The public are also being asked not to fly drones in the vicinity of the seals.
