PLANNING for an ambitious programme of activities to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend are well underway in the village of Findhorn this week and organisers are appealing for volunteers to help make the weekend a success.
The celebrations will run from Thursday June 2 until Sunday June 5 and will feature a host of fun activities throughout the week.
Cathy Low, Secretary and Director of The Findhorn Village Conservation Company and Director of Findhorn Village Centre, is coordinating the event.
Cathy said: “Various groups, organisations, clubs and businesses within the village were all looking at what they might do over the holiday weekend to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
"It was decided that it would make sense if we all came together and pooled our time and resources to plan a programme of celebrations that could be delivered over the course of the weekend.
"We plan to have a range of events and activities so there should be something for everyone in the village, no matter what age, to join in and enjoy."
There are already lots of fun events planned and the festivities will commence with the lighting of a Beacon on the Thursday evening, with musical performances by a piper and the Kinloss Military Wives Choir, although the event musical event still requires a Bugler or Cornet Player.
Over the weekend, there will opportunities to visit a floral display in Findhorn Church, along with a miniature garden competition for children to enter.
Royal Findhorn Yacht Club plan to host a Jubilee Garden Party on Saturday June 4 and a 1950's themed ball will also take place in the James Milne Institute .
Findhorn Village Centre will also host lots activities for children and adults in the village to try, alongside activities sessions and afternoon teas at the village's Bowling Club and the event will culminate with a street party on Sunday afternoon.
