Three Highland schools, Cradlehall Primary School, Millbank Primary School, and Grantown Primary School, also participated in the event.

Gordonstoun Junior School emerged as the winner of the competition, with Grantown Primary School finishing as the runners-up. Both teams will go on to represent the area at the Rotary District 1010 Final at the Beach Ballroom in Aberdeen on Saturday, June 17.

Rotary's Assistant District Governor Carol Stewart praised the enthusiasm of all pupils involved, she said: "It was great to hear the buzz in the room, competition was fierce across all the rounds and whilst all was quiet whilst the quiz questions were being answered the cheers were loud from the hugely supportive audience of friends, family and teaching staff on the night.

"It’s the first time we’ve been able to hold this event locally in this format for a number of years and we were blown away by the enthusiasm of all involved. Good luck to Gordonstoun and Grantown for the next round and we look forward to even more local schools taking part next year."
