Pair arrested for break-in at Mackenzie and Cruickshank in Forres

Two men have been arrested for allegedly breaking into seven commercial premises, including businesses in Elgin and Forres.

The pair, who are both aged 31 and from the south of England, are due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court today.

The break-ins took place between Sunday, August 30, and Sunday, September 6.

Harbro in Elgin and Mackenzie and Cruickshank in Forres were both targeted.

The men have also been charged with breaking into five other premises across Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Glenrothes.

Detective Sergeant John Lumsden, from Aberdeen CID, said: "Police Scotland is committed to tackling serious and organised crime and we rely on information from our communities to help us.

"I want to thank the public for their assistance with our investigation and colleagues at North Wales Police who were also involved.

"Our enquiries continue and anyone with information about any break-ins should contact us on 101, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

The relevant break-ins were at:

Matalan store in Nitshill Road, Glasgow, on October 30.

Marks & Spencer in Denmore Road, Aberdeen, on September 1

Mackenzie & Cruickshank Garden Centre in Greshop Road, Forres, on September 2

Harbro in Edgar Road, Elgin, also on September 2.

Poundstretchers at the Saltire Retail Park in Glenrothes, on September 3

Matalan in Seafield Way, Edinburgh, on September 4.

Costa in Cogan Road, Glasgow, on September 6.
