WITHIN just one year of reopening under new ownership, Orchard Road Dental Practice has flourished, garnering prestigious award nominations and expanding its range of services to better serve the community.
At the helm of the Forres based business are Dr. Saranya Selvaraj and team. Dr. Selvaraj trained as a dentist in Bangalore, India and was named University Rank Holder, as the top achieving student in many of her subjects.
Along with seeing private patients at the practice, the couple who have two young children of their own, have been keen to ensure dental services are accessible for Moray families.
Dr. Saranya Selvaraj said: “We decided to keep the practice open for under 18’s on the NHS so that way kids don’t have to travel too far.
“We know that there are not many NHS dentists and people sometimes had to travel as far as Aberdeen with their kids, so when we took over the practice we decided to start doing NHS services for patients under 18, just to make sure services are available in the area and to support services.”
The commitment to excellence exhibited by Dr. Selvaraj and her team has not gone unnoticed. Within just one year of operation, Orchard Road Dental has been named a finalist in seven categories across various prestigious dental awards ceremonies, including the Dentistry Scotland Awards and the Private Dentistry Awards.
Dr. Saranya Selvaraj herself has also been recognised as a finalist for Best Young Dentist three times consecutively, a testament to her dedication and expertise. Dr Selvaraj said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been nominated for so many awards, it was a real learning curve initially and it’s great to see the business is finally going in the right direction.
Central to the success of Orchard Road Dental Practice is its exceptional team of eight staff, including nurses and receptionists with over two decades of experience.
Looking ahead, the Forres based dentists have also been expanding their range of services to meet the evolving needs of its patients. The practice is offering a comprehensive suite of treatments, including implants, wisdom tooth extractions, orthodontics, periodontics and even cosmetic procedures like Botox and fillers.
Along with Dr Saranya Selvaraj in Orthodontics & General Dental services, the enriched team has enormous experience. Dr. V Nallamilli, affectionately referred to as Dr Reddy by his peers at Raigmore Hospital has an impressive 28-year track record in Oral Surgery and Dental Implantology. Dr. Sumira Bali is taking care of Periodontics and associate dentist Dr Iulia S Gandi is looking after Cosmetic treatments and general dental services.
Dr Selvaraj added: "Our aim is to provide most of the dental services under one roof, where our patients can access the facilities at ease.
“The team desire is to make anxious patients more comfortable.
“We believe patients can have pleasant dental experience. Patient care with the effective dental treatment is our priority.”
