THE one year anniversary of the first Covid-19 vaccination being administered in Moray was marked on Monday.

The NHS Grampian team began vaccinating the health board's most vulnerable last year on December 8, 2020, but the first jab was given in Moray five days later on December 13.

Since then, the vaccination team have jabbed 77,266 people in Moray once, 70,516 twice and 43,575 three times – a total of almost 200,000 jabs in a little more than 365 days.

Laura Sutherland, Vaccination Programme Lead in Moray, has paid tribute to members of staff involved with the vaccine programme, as well as the general public.

"It has been a very quick year," she said.

"I have to say thank you to each and every member of staff who has worked so hard on the vaccination programme, to all our volunteers who have given us such great support and to the people of Moray, who have come forward in their thousands to get vaccinated and play their part."

At the moment, more than 5500 people in Moray are being given a 'booster' Covid-19 jab weekly.

Adults aged 18 and over can now register for their booster – or first or second vaccines – on the NHS website.
