One new cases of coronavirus confirmed in Moray

ONE new case of coronavirus has been confirmed overnight in Moray.

A total of 74 cases have now been confirmed in the area since the outbreak began.

Yesterday, figures from the National Records of Scotland showed 13 people across Moray have died due to the virus.

NHS Grampian recorded two new cases overnight – the lowest number in six weeks. The health board has 1218 confirmed cases of the virus.

According to Scottish Government figures, Aberdeenshire has 420 confirmed cases – meaning the area saw no overnight rise. Aberdeen City has 711 confirmed cases, a rise of one overnight.

Highland council area has confirmed 193 cases.

At midnight, there were 72 people in Grampian hospitals with confirmed or suspected coronavirus, with six in intensive care.

Scotland-wide, the number of people who have tested positive for coronavirus and died within 28 days is now 2221. That is an increase of 37 deaths overnight.

A total of 95,173 people have been tested for the virus in Scotland, with 80,317 negative and 14,856 positive. The number of patients discharged from hospital is 3470.

Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon today announced plans to ease lockdown restrictions from Thursday, May 28. Plans include being able to meet up with people from one other household, socially-distanced.

Tennis, bowls and golf are also set to be re-introduced.
