One death and 26 new cases of coronavirus confirmed in Moray within the last week

ANOTHER Moray resident has died due to coronavirus within the last week, taking the area's death toll since the outbreak began to 38.

The resident had Covid-19 mentioned on their death certificate.

Of the 38 Moray residents who have died coronavirus-related deaths in Moray, nine have had the virus mentioned on their death certificate, while 29 tested positive for Covid-19 and passed away within 28 days.

The number of people who tested positive for Covid-19 in Moray once again fell slightly – from 27 last week to 26 – this week.

However, the number of negative tests confirmed since March 7 is 483, also down slightly on the 511 who were confirmed as having tested negative in last week's update.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 13,896 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began. That's an increase of 209 on the 13,687 reported last week.

Moray neighbourhood area update

This week's neighbourhood update makes for interesting viewing, with only one area of Moray having three or more confirmed cases of Covid-19 between March 7 and March 14.

Three cases were confirmed in Forres Central East and Seaward, meaning the remaining cases are spread evenly across Moray's 24 'neighbourhood areas'.

An area will only be highlighted on the map if it has three more confirmed cases of Covid-19.

Scotland-wide update

Today's daily update shows 625 people in Scotland have tested positive for coronavirus overnight, with 12 deaths of people who tested positive for the virus confirmed.

During the week ending March 17, 30,253 people were newly-tested with 4074 testing positive for the first time. That's an increase on the 3601 people who tested positive last week from 28,076 tests.

Since the outbreak began, 1,755,225 people in Scotland have been tested at least once, with 211,230 positive and 1,543,995 negative.

During the week ending March 14, 104 deaths were registered where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate. That's a reduction on the 141 deaths confirmed the week prior.

That takes Scotland's death toll since the outbreak began to 9831. A total of 7529 of those died after testing positive for Covid-19.

A total of 38 people are in intensive care in relation to Covid-19, with 422 patients in hospital.

In total, 14,523 patients who have tested positive for Covid-19 have been released from hospital since March 5.
